About the Campaign

The TOKEN (Tōtara Ōkari Kiwi Enhancement Network) is a dedicated group of volunteers working to protect and restore native wildlife along the Kawatiri Coastal Trail (near Westport, NZ) and wider. Our team maintains more than 250 predator traps to create a safer habitat for local species, especially the great spotted kiwi (Roroa), which is a unique and important population in this area. Using trail cameras, we monitor these special birds and track the success of our conservation efforts. Every bit of support helps us keep this vital work going.

The footage from those efforts has been collected and edited for the Kawatiri Kiwi campaign.

We’re inviting the public to vote for its favourite Kawatiri Kiwi throughout July and August (ending August 28). We’ll announce the winner.

While you are here, we would love it if you can spare a few dollars to support the volunteers effots.

This campaign has been made possible with the help of Shortjaw Brewing, who have a released a beer, the Kiwi Double Dark, in conjunction with the campaign. For more information check out shortjaw.co.nz. Don’t forget to donate first though.
