We’ve got some special friends living in the bush near Kawatiri Westport, and a team of volunteers has been looking after them, while trying to keep any pests away.
A small population of Great Spotted Kiwi (Roroa), are being closely monitored using a number of strategically positioned trail cameras. We are delighted to share some of the resulting videos and invite you to vote for your favourite Kawatiri Kiwi for 2026. The winner will get worldwide acclaim, but of course we will continue to love them all equally.
We’ll leave the vote open from July 1 to August 28, with a big announcement in Kawatiri/Westport. We’ll also hope to have an 'unveiling' of a special creation at the announcement.
